The February tasting featured 8 red wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the highly praised 2019 vintage. It also was a return to Zoom, hopefully not for long.
We welcomed our new preferred guests Andre and Melinda Solomon, who were attending their first tasting after last July’s picnic. They were introduced to the club by Vince and Karen. We also enjoyed meeting again Jay Bileti, former Membership Director of the American Wine Society and a guest of the Simonis. He was part of their tasting last April. And, thanks to Zoom, we got the somewhat rare chance to hear sommelier Michael Perry’s thoughts on the wines while he was also providing dinner to a large wedding party at the St. Francis Yacht Club.
