During this tasting we will evaluate some of the best Cabernets priced between about $25 and $30.  As you probably know, we are in the midst of a wine glut and there are good deals to be found.  I am currently tasting some of the available wines so I can find well balanced ones and avoid “fruit bombs” (wines that do not have enough acid and, therefore, taste more like grape juice than wine).

I will focus on California Cabernet Sauvignons, but I may include a Cabernet Franc and maybe a non-California Cabernet.  There may also be some blends that are mostly Cabernet.  I am sampling wines from Costco, K&L, and other local retailers.  I will wait until 10 days or a week before the tasting to buy the wines so that there is a good chance that most of them will be available to purchase after the tasting.

Dinner will be provided by Enrico Filippelli, owner and chef of Cerri Catering.
