The April tasting will be on April 12 and will be a traditional 8 bottle blind tasting of Cabernet Franc from France and the United States. As you probably know, Cabernet Franc is finding its own way to the front of the line as a named varietal with its rich and complex characteristics after centuries of being a supporting character to other wines, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon. The tasting will emphasize two things – – the lighter styles of Cabernet Franc and the richer more complex characteristics that can be produced by terroir and wine maker style. The second emphasis will be the contrast between France and the United States and within the United States the difference between Napa/Sonoma and the Central Coast.
The tasting will begin promptly at 5:45 PM at the Metropolitan Club, 640 Sutter St., San Francisco. Limited paid parking is available next door. The tasting will cost approximately $45 per person and the buffet dinner will be approximately $80.
Starting NOW, members should make their reservation by text to David at 415-730-7797 indicating number of “pours” and “meals.” Please do contact us even if you have talked with us about the tasting so that we are able to maintain an accurate count. Preferred guests will be eligible for any remaining slots on April 2 and may indicate their interest in advance, which will be reserved in the order received. If you are not able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. We plan to make contact with every member just to be sure that everyone is fully notified.
