ANNOUNCEMENT
WHAT: Rioja versus Ribera: “A Tale of Two Tempranillos”
WHERE: Home of David and Diane Gandara
WHEN: Saturday, June 9 6 P.M.
Those who know Spanish wines recognize that there are the two great reds made from Tempranillo: Rioja and Ribera del Duero. The quality of both, already quite good, has soared to new heights in recent years, accompanied by changes in wine making methods and exceptional growing conditions. But do you know the distinguishing characteristics and can you tell the difference between one and the other?
This tasting will feature four wines from Rioja and four from Ribera, all wines of critical acclaim rated over 90 points by the critics. All are currently available and are candidates for cellaring and for acquisition by CCSF. This will be a 1 bottle tasting.
A catered dinner at the Gandara hacienda in Napa will follow the tasting.
