Napa Wine Tasting & Luncheon, February 7, 2026

Hello Friends,

We are pleased to announce the first tasting event of the year, a decidedly non-traditional day of food and wine in the Napa wine country.  We will meet promptly at 11:00 AM at our home in St. Helena for a traditional paella and Albariño lunch courtesy of your chefs Indra and Diane.   At 1:00 PM we will do a tasting at Davies Vineyards, just a few minutes away in St. Helena.  As Steve Smith reminded me, the CSSF has a case of the J Davies 2013 Cabernet in our cellar, which I think was the highest rated cab at one of our blind Cabernet tastings a few years ago.  We are thinking of a lineup of their Schramsberg sparkling wine, a Pinot, and their 2021 and 2022 Cabernets. We will be in a private area of the tasting room and have cheese and nibbles provided by the winery.   Remember that our tasting is the first Saturday, September 7, not on Valentine’s Day weekend.

The cost for the Davies tasting and lunch is $100 for the tasting and $10 for the lunch.  The $110 per person includes the gratuity (for the winery staff, not the chefs).  After the tasting, we will have 2 further options for those of you who don’t want to drive right back.  Option 1 is for some of the group to spend a few hours doing our Valentine’s Day shopping in St. Helena town before heading back.  Option 2 is to do a 3:00 PM tasting at Venge Winery at their very pretty winery in Calistoga. The tasting at Venge is $110 per person with our (Diane & my) membership, and that includes one bottle of their Bone Ash Cabernet per person to take home, a $125 value.   As members of Venge, we can attest to the quality of their wines and their outstanding tasting experience.  

We suggest that anyone who opts for doing the Venge tasting, spend a few hours sobering up over a wine-free dinner in Calistoga before heading back home.  We have floor space and a Laura Wilson sized guest room for anyone who wants to do a sleepover.
