Gerald R. Barrick
May 2, 1931 – Sept. 29, 2018
Founding Cellar Society member Gerald “Jerry” Barrick passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on September 29 in his home in San Francisco at the age of 87. Below he is pictured with his wife Lynda at the Repast of 2014.
A Celebration of Life was held for him at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco, and a large number of Cellar Society members were in attendance. Below are some photos taken at the lunch held afterwards:

Jerry was born on May 2, 1931 in Chicago to Frank and Margaret (Ruch) Barrick. He spent his formative years in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin where his family lived on a cherry orchard. He graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1949, attended Ripon College from 1949 to 1951, and graduated with a BS from University of Wisconsin in 1953. Jerry served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. Upon his return, he earned his law degree from University of Wisconsin Law School in 1958. The following year, Jerry relocated to San Francisco to practice law, first in South San Francisco, then in San Bruno.
Jerry was an avid collector of antiques, from colorful stained glass windows and elaborate picture frames to unique door knobs and vintage wine openers. He was always on the hunt for the next treasure. Jerry’s art collection was vast and diverse, including oil paintings, watercolors, woodblock prints, photography, and sculptures. He admired and was inspired by San Francisco’s Victorian architecture. Jerry was an enthusiastic outdoors-man, enjoying fly fishing, backpacking, camping, and skiing in California and internationally. As a founding member of The Cellar Society of San Francisco (est. 1970), Jerry loved sharing good wine with friends. He was known for his gregarious nature, intelligence, and determination. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
