12 members and guests gathered in Central California to begin a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the movie Sideways. The festivities started on Friday at the Simonis for bocce and appetizers, followed by dinner at the BL Brasserie in Paso Robles. On Saturday, the party moved to Santa Barbara County for tasting at Fess Parker starting at 11AM. A number of people went to lunch at the Wine Merchant & Cafe, and individuals split off to do separate tastings at Firestone and Sanford. Dinner was held at the Hitching Post 2 in Buellton, the site of many scenes from the movie. On Sunday, after breakfast, there was more tasting, lunch and a heartfelt wave from the hosts as they bid farewell to the Bay Area members.
Additional wineries visited by the Simonis and Smiths on Sunday and Monday were Foxen Vineyard and Andrew Murray (Smiths only).
