White Burgundy, May 8, 2021

Virtual
Hosted by David and Betty Gibson

David and Betty Gibson did a great job hosting what may be our last virtual tasting. Represented were 8 white Burgundy wines, two from each of four appellations, all vintage 2018, rated 90 or above, as follows:

Chassagne Montrachet
Morey-Coffinet, Les Houillieres Blanc (JJB $65)
Joseph Drouhin  (KL $80)
Puligny Montrachet
Thierry & Pascale Matrot, La Garenne (KL $90)
Paul Pernot, Champ Canet (KL $90)
Meursault
Jean et Giies Lafouge (KL $50))
Bachelet-Monnot, Clos du Cromin (W.c $85)
Pouilly-Fuisse
Ch. Fuisse, Tete de Cuvee (KL $40)
Ch. Barraud, La Roche (KL $50)

Following the tasting was a special presentation on white Burgundy in general and the four appellations in particular. Copy available here.

The consensus was that all of the wines were spectacular, but surprisingly, the least expensive wine won with 8 first place votes among the 25 voters. The enthusiams was so great that during the meeting an order was placed for the winner to be added to our cellar. It was a fun tasting all around, as you can see from the group picture.
