In another virtual tasting, 31 people participated in a tasting of the best recent vintage Cabernet Sauvignons from Napa Valley that could be had for less than $100. Admittedly, these wines were still in their infancy, but one wine stood out, the 2017 Schrader Cellars Double Diamond from Napa with 92 points. The #2 wine was the only wine that wasn’t from 2017, the 2015 Inglenook Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon with 105 points. While 13 points separated the #1 from the #2 wine, 13 points also separated wines #2-#6 which indicates their similar tasting profiles.
To sum up the tasting, David Gibson quoted from our club founder Larry Elsener who considered tasting such young wines as “an act of infanticide”.
